This template is really for the ”true professional” it will create the mortise to accept the latch bolt or the back of the dust box, instead of just using your boring bit to create the pocket. The dust box is the plastic part that is installed under the strike plate itself to hide any wood that might be seen by looking into the strike plate (who looks in there anyway?).
